Early last year, I noticed that my mascara was a bit crumbly - meaning that it would flake off onto my cheeks over the course of the day. Ok, so obviously I need to change mascara. No problem. I go to my local department store, thinking if I spend more on the mascara, it will be better, right? Quit buying the cheap-o versions at the drug store, spend a bit more, and my lashes will be healthy and awesome.
Let's say i purchased Brand X. I'm not going to bash any specific brand, but I did spend $27.50 on this high end, "lengthening" mascara. Good to go, right? Not so much.
About the forth time I used it, I rubbed my eye, and it flaked off, but not the little bitty flakes, longer flakes. Ok. That was weird, but decided to just be careful not to rub my eye. About 2 weeks into using it, I noticed that my eyelashes seem shorter. Odd. The last day I tried it, I had something (I think it was a flake of mascara) fly in my eye. It burned really bad, so I rubbed my eye, gently, trying to get it out. Long flakes all over my cheek. I went to the bathroom and removed all my makeup, desperately trying to get the piece of debris out of my eye. I'm blinking and my eye is watering and I get all my eye makeup off. I look down at the pad I used to remove my eye makeup and am startled to see all the black flecks. Long flecks. A lot of them. I finally get the debris out of my eye and I check to see how red my eye is. Wow. It's really red....hey...Oh MY GOODNESS! My eyelashes are
almost GONE! Rubbing my eye with that mascara on caused all of the lashes to break off! Just like super brittle, over processed hair. I freaked out. A little. I had these short stubby little eyelashes. I panicked for a short moment before I remembered that they grow back. THEY GROW BACK. Ok. Breathing.
My friend, Rachel, had sold me the 3D Fiber Lash Mascara earlier in the year, but I found it a bit dry, so I had thrown it in a drawer. I went to the website, because I knew that Younique was supposed to produce a more natural product. So what makes it better? The transplanting gel uses polymers known to provide conditioning and moisturizing properties. It contains vitamin B5, E and Chamomilla Flower extract - The gel conditions and moisturizes. And those fibers? They have benefits too, they are formulated with squalane and CoQ10, ingredients known to condition, moisturize, and fortify hair and skin.
So there's a bunch of fancy words and promises, that should make me feel better, but it stills seemed dry. I called Rachel. Turns out the dryness was a known issue, but the company was reformulating it to fix the problem. Rachel asked if I'd be willing to wait for the new formula to come out. I waited. I'm so glad I did. Since I started using the new mascara in January, my lashes are BACK BABY! Longer than they were before, a little bit thicker, and every day as I apply my new mascara, I notice that they look more and more healthy. I have found my miracle mascara. Want some? Click here.
